Linux
using Linux since: early 1997 (kernel 2.0.27, RedHat 4.1)
Home distro: Gentoo
Work distro: Ubuntu
Server distro: Fedora & Gentoo (moving towards Gentoo and maybe Debian)
I was the leader of the Bloomington Linux Users Group from November 2004 through January 2007 before passing it on to Scott Blaydes, I work at Cook Incorporated, where Linux is used a lot, part owner of Suso Technology Services, which does local Linux support. So I'm really into Linux and Open Source.
I have been using Linux for almost 10 years now and I must say, it has come a long way. In just 15 years since its existence (and GNU software since 1985), it has covered more ground in less time than the proprietary PC world has in 26 years. And now it has nearly caught up completely. Surpassing it in many ways. It truly is the OS of the future.
Turn ons
Turn offs
- Tarbombs (Grrrr, they make me angry!)
- Programs that don't have -h or -v options for help and verbosity
Applications I've written
Currently working on
- A maillogstats program that parses the logfiles of postfix and spamassassin.
- A top secret program (Do I know how to build up the suspense or what ;-)
