Live Open Source DVD Project
From BLUG
The Live Open Source DVD Project was started to make a free bootable DVD that has many different live CDs, utilities and fun applications all on one DVD that we will give out at LinuxFest 2006 on April 14th. The idea came about after seeing an article on linux.com about creating a LiveDVD. We're actually going to work with the IUCC on this and give them out together.

Open Questions
- What live CDs should be included?
- What other useful programs can we include?
- What format and size does the grub boot image need to be?
- Is there any problem related to the 4.0GB limit of mounting iso images under Linux?
Software to include
We have about 4.5GB to fill on one DVD, thats room for 5 CDs with some room to spare. probably we'll put 3 or 4 major Live CDs (650MB or so in size) and then several minor Live CDs (100-200MB) and then some small utilies and programs. We can also put something on there for if the user puts it in on Windows.

- Ubuntu Dapper Drake 6.06 Flight 6 (Beta, customized to have more programs) http://www.ubuntu.com/
- PCLinuxOS - http://www.pclinuxos.com/
- Linux Live Game Project (695MB) - http://tuxgamers.altervista.org/Llgp/
- Backtrack Slackware based security distro
- Dyne:Bolic multimedia live CD

There are probably some interesting things available out there that just run as assembler code and do visual effects and also single application OSes or whatever.
Boot splash images
Ana is working on some bootsplash images to use for the DVD's grub boot screen, here they are. Please post your comments on the mailing list or on the discussion page for this article:
