Synopsis
Brett Smith will be giving a presentation on the Indiana University Knowledge Base and its use of Linux. The Indiana University Knowledge Base is an online documentation and FAQ resource for computing at IU. It has been in existance for more than 10 years now and has a long and interesting history. Some of the people who have worked on the Knowledge Base over the years have gone on to do important things in Bloomington and beyond. This should be a really interesting presentation and as always, please try to make it. I want to have a good turnout for this one.
There will be pizza and drinks. I will buy 4 pizzas this time and use the $10 that we received in donations last time to partially pay for it. I will have the coffee can there for further donations. Also if you want to bring your donations that will help us get the non-profit corporation started, bring those too because we'll start that process in December and incorporate in January.
I promise that there won't be a tornado this time. Maybe a blizzard though.
Summary
We had a decent turnout. A little lower than hoped for.
Brett gave a very interesting and insightful look into how Linux is used for the IU Knowledge Base, as well as providing a history of it and providing some useful graphics like Optimus Prime with chainsaw legs. Picture coming later.
$38 and some change was donated for pizza and the monitors. Later I sold another 3 monitors bringing the total to $53. This money will be used for the initial expenses to start BOSCO in January.
